Short-Term Running Goals:
I really need to develop new goals. It's been a busy year both professionally (field work) and personally (wedding, move,...) It's time to get back on track and commit to some racing goals for next year.
Long-Term Running Goals: The long-term goals are much easier--to stay healthy and happy!
Personal: Live in Broad Run, VA with my wife; work at US Geological Survey. Baby cat running around to catch mice in our old house.

| | 2000 meters in the pool. Nice and strong today, but pooped by the end. This was a pretty serious stroke workout (back, fly, breast), and I'm a freestyle kind of dude. | Add Comment |
| | 6 miles on the roads close to home. This was the beginning of a storm that brought 5 inches of snow, but it hadn't accumulated enough to really throw me off. Feelin' strong and chipping time off the total time for this run. | Add Comment |

Same ol' run on the roads near home. I felt very sluggish all day today and was hoping that the run would snap me out of it...no ceegar. I was pooped the whole time...but I still managed to maintain a decent pace. I'm not sure what my energy issues are stemming from, since I get plenty of sleep and food. I'm generally fine if I'm moving (especially running), but the second I hit a chair I get so sleepy. Not sure what to think of it... Oh...today there was a full chorus of dogs barking at me. 4 on one side of the road, 3 on the other, all at the same time. It was like hearing "i want to chew your face off so bad" in stereo in dog-speak. That's just in one tiny spot--this run boasts the most dogs I've ever seen on a run. These people all have a couple dogs outside just to bark at things. I love where I live. And speaking of, MID-ATLANTIC BLIZZARD NUMBER TWO!! WHOOO!! Off to Western Maryland to the Allegheny Plateau to bust out nordic/tele skis and fish through the ice!

| | I'll call it 4 miles. Walk/jogged approximately 4 miles from my hotel in drizzle from my hotel in Fayettville, NC en route to Tybee Island to drop a trailer at the drill site. Lots of tree frogs--nothing like tree frogs calling at dusk to conjure desires for spring! | Add Comment |
| | 6 snowy, icy miles on roads from home. The salted spots were the worst, and wherever it's just snow it's all good. But really it's all all good. All of it. | Add Comment |
| | 6 miles on Tybee Island, GA. Just kicked off 2 week stint of field work, and the running is going to be a slice of heaven. From my house on a Savannah River canal I'm on the beach in 10 minutes, then it's smooth sailin' with shells and gulls and sunsets. I had to pinch myself tonight. | Add Comment |
| | I had an amazing run tonight. Simply amazing. After a few hours of constant drizzle here in Georgia, I decided that I had to make a move rain or shine, so I suited up and headed out. Right when I got to the beach, the sun dropped below the cloud level and lit up all the rain drops around me in an incredible glow behind me and to my right that felt otherworldly. This transitioned to a purple to my right, and a deep blue right in front of me. To my left was a gigantic, bright double rainbow over the Atlantic with flocks of seagulls flying all around. I felt like I was iin a sci-fi movie and a unicorn was going to jump out at me or a mermaid would surface and wave to me. Totally awesome. Like the perfect birthday present:) | Comments(1) |
| | Beautiful day today, and I would have loved to run and run and run, but after these couple days of field work + running my legs were telling me they wanted a little break. 5 fairly relaxed miles were just fine for me! | Add Comment |
| | 6 miles--same as before on the beach. Legs are screaming at me for a day off, so I shall listen tomorrow. | Add Comment |
