Running Accomplishments:

I don't really keep good track, but here's what I found online:

Canyonlands Half '08: 1:34:35

Cherry Blossom 10 miler '08: 1:10:09 (alias jonathon strong)

Jingle All the Way 10k '08: 41:46

Short-Term Running Goals:

I really need to develop new goals.  It's been a busy year both professionally (field work) and personally (wedding, move,...)

It's time to get back on track and commit to some racing goals for next year.

Long-Term Running Goals:

The long-term goals are much easier--to stay healthy and happy!

Personal:

Live in Broad Run, VA with my wife; work at US Geological Survey.  Baby cat running around to catch mice in our old house.

This is the first 10k i've run since...?  I feel like the last one I ran may well have been in the N.U.T.S. series back around 2006.  What a fun race!  I didn't really know what to expect, but having known that everyone wears bells and such I didn't expect it to be too competetive.  But it turned out to be the perfect mix of overly serious runners and people wearing cowbells singing christmas carols.  I was a bit late getting to the start, but I think it may have been to my advantage.  It was pretty easy to hop up on the curb here and there to get past random slugs of people, and after a couple miles I could weave my way through effortlessly.  I felt strong from the start and was thrilled with the weather and atmosphere.  Mile splits improved all the way through:

1: 7:03

2,3: 13:49 (missed the mile marker)

4: 6:43

5: 6:28

6: 6:21

But better than the race was the company--great to commute with Eric, Allison, and Chris, and then to hang with the Rocket herself and Aaron.  So nice to finally meet you guys!  Go Santa's Little Jingers!!

Thanks again for the post-race suaree, Lucia.  Amazing food and great company.  Let's get a run or hike going soon-ish.

Enjoy your week, all.

Great race. How many people ran it?

Something like 4400! Pretty congested, but a very cool vibe.

Great job. Looking at your splits, if the race had been longer, you would have been hitting sub-6 pace in a couple miles!

Nice race. Good job picking up the pace every mile.

Nice work my friend! Thank you for being on the team, for coming to brunch afterwards and bringing such cool people with you. Eric and Allison are insanely awesome, and of course I'll be seeing Liz around my hood. Happy running!

Ben,

I see you ran the Moab 1/2 last year. Did you put in for 09? My team drew out again YAHHHOOO!! But I was probably one of the sluggish runners you had to pass last year LOL. N.U.T.S. were fun races, now it's the WRS.

Lori--

Unfortunately Moab will not be happening for me this year. What an amazing race though, eh? I didn't realize NUTS changed names. What's WRS stand for?

Moab is beautiful... I hope the weather is like last year. It is possibly my top 3 races because it is so beautiful.

OOPS I had it wrong it's WRC (Winter Racing Circuit) It's a 5K, 10K, 10 miler, 1/2 and 30K now. It's a fun series of races, but the first 3 are around the Dee Events Center in Ogden, don't know if you know the area, but it's rather hilly races up there. Then the last two are around Eden area. Much funner :)
