Jingle All the Way 10k '08: 41:46
Short-Term Running Goals:
I really need to develop new goals. It's been a busy year both professionally (field work) and personally (wedding, move,...) It's time to get back on track and commit to some racing goals for next year.
Long-Term Running Goals: The long-term goals are much easier--to stay healthy and happy!
Personal: Live in Broad Run, VA with my wife; work at US Geological Survey. Baby cat running around to catch mice in our old house.

| | Approximately 5.5 miles out in the flat Cambridge roads. Nice mornings out here this time of year. | Add Comment |
| | Good ol' 6 mile run on the WOD trail. It's been a while! Felt quite strong running later in the morning, despite warmer temps. Once a coldfront comes through, I may just switch back to evening runs. I'm always stronger when I've been awake a while. | Add Comment |
| | 45 minute lapswim and 45 minutes lifting weights. Trying to find fitness again after a couple weeks in Alaska and a week in the field. Tough schedule, man. | Comments(4) |

Standard 6-mile out-and-back on the WOD with 8:20 avg. Felt very strong and would like will play this week out in such a way that I can tackle a long run this weekend.

Foot pain is much more tolerable, so i hit the trail again. I just did the standard 3 mile out-and-back and loved every second of it. That fabled lovely DC fall weather has finally struck, and it makes running seem like a vacation. Happy to be healthy for this coming season!

7 miles on the WOD in the TO THE EAST!! I ran it east just once, when the trail was still icy, and deemed it not nearly as good as to the west. So i've stuck to the western route since. Stupid. It's gorgeous and hilly to the east, and lots more people to see/say hi to/pass. Not nearly as straight either, and it goes through some amazing forest. It's basically just plain old better, is what I'm trying to say. Very, very happy I gave it another shot, and that I'm aware of it for the fall running season. The run was very, very needed, and it helped steam off a lot of things. | Add Comment |

Noon: Leisurely 6-mile hike to loosen up and enjoy immaculate late summer/early fall Virginia sunshine.
pm: 6 Mile loop on the WOD. This run was incredibly necessary after a relaxing weekend of shooting doves and listening to bluegrass near Berryville, VA. I feel way stronger on this new portion of trail I'm running, largely due to the hills. Flats make me tired and bored. Such a beautiful evening for it. | Add Comment |

I was rather pissed off that my alarm didn't go off this morning, which prevented a run with Chill Winston. So I decided to attack the Wod with my vengence. 12 miles at 8:30 pace. Psshht...not that impressive, but at this point, it kicked my trash. It stinks, cuz i'll be outta town for the next month, Randy. I guess we'll meet up when the autumn winds are really blowin'. | Add Comment |
